Winning the Auckland Council Manurewa-Papakura Ward for Labour
Thank you for asking how you can help my campaign to win the Manurewa Papakura Ward of Auckland Council. Alongside my fellow council candidate Manurewa business owner Ilango Krishnamoorthy we are running full tickets for both the Manurewa and Papakura Local Boards.
We already know that in the General Election Labour Voters are in the majority, if the 2017 Labour Party voters also voted for Labour Candidates in the Council Election this year then we are well placed to win the election and put strong Labour councillors onto Council. In 2016 fewer than one in four Labour voters turned out to vote in the Council Elections so we don’t need to change peoples minds, we just need to ensure they are on the roll and cast their vote.
How can you help make this happen?
Speak to your workmates, your family, and friends about how important local elections are and ask them to vote in September.
Help everyone you know to check they are enrolled here : https://vote.nz/
If they did not receive a letter from the Electoral Commission last week, then they are not enrolled at the place they currently live. They need to enrol where they live by August 16. As voting in the local elections is by postal ballot, you only receive a voting paper if you are enrolled at your current address.
